(BI) Bodily Injury Provides protection if you injure or kill someone while operating your car. It also provides for a legal defense if another party in the accident files a lawsuit against you.  In the event of a serious accident, you want enough insurance to cover a judgment against you in a lawsuit without jeopardizing your personal assets. bodily injury liability covers injury to people, not your vehicle. Therefore, it’s a good idea to have the same level of coverage for all of your cars.

(PD) Property Damage protects you if your car damages someone else’s property.  It also provides you with legal defense if another party files a lawsuit against you.  It’s a good idea to purchase enough of this insurance to cover the amount of damage your car might do to another vehicle or object.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Coverage for being injured in an auto accident regardless of fault.  Coverage is or medical bills and lost wages.

Medical Payment pays for the medical expenses of the injured driver and passengers in your car.  This is additional medical payments beyond what PIP covers.

Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) pays for your injuries caused by an uninsured or underinsured driver, in an accident that is not your fault.  Underinsured means the person who injures you doesn’t have enough, Bodily Injury Coverage on their policy.  This is a very important coverage because it is often the only way you can protect yourself and family against drivers who either don’t carry insurance or carry very low limits of liability.

Comprehensive Coverage pays for losses resulting from incidents other than collision. For example, comprehensive insurance covers damage to your car if it is stolen or damaged by hurricane, flood, fire, or animals.

Collision Coverage pays for damage to your car when your car hits, or is hit by, another vehicle or other object. This coverage is ACV (actual cash value), meaning coverage is paid by the book value of your vehicle at the time of a loss.

Rental Reimbursement coverage pays for a rental vehicle (usually up to $30 a day) when the insured's vehicle is out of commission as a result of a loss covered under comprehensive or collision coverage.

Custom Parts or Equipment auto insurance coverage is for replacement of standard features on a vehicle.  If you add a custom paint job, custom rims, custom stereo.  Then this coverage must be added to get coverage for non factory items.
